My bot command fails or does not respond

Give the connected chat the exact failing command and error.

  1. Confirm the bot is online and that you are testing the correct bot in the intended server.
  2. Try the command with all required arguments. Note whether Discord shows an error or nothing happens.
  3. Check the bot’s channel permissions and any role restrictions on the command.
  4. Copy the runtime error into the connected chat, along with the command, arguments and expected result. Remove private data.
  5. Wait for the fix to finish, follow any runtime restart instructions and test again. If access is restricted, test both an allowed and a restricted member.
